I ride my bike to work 2-3 times a week, and one of these panniers carries all I need: my shoes (granted, I wear a women's size 7) my clothes and my breakfast. I carry my wallet, keys, etc in the outside pocket. I've not tested it in the rain, but it's very easy to put on and take off and carry into work. I've used both panniers to carry picnic items, lots of room, doesn't get in the way when I pedal. Great product, great price.
